Thanks for filling me in alphadad and @alliebean. My memory was too vague. If both of you remember him this way (and particularly since you engaged him, alphadad) I appreciate the explanation. I must have tuned in at the end when he was protesting the attacks on him as motivated by something other than his own methods and demeanor.

Guy has a topic about the Orlando massacre and I'm kind of amazed a the number of people commenting there. What's really funny is that the "giraffe" mostly trolls any and every response someone posts to him.
I guess they're all having fun but why waste the time?
But it does us all a service by keeping him plying his trade while contained in his own topic.

I've tried so hard...I've been good about not engaging our troll-in-residence...but by gawd the stupidity...it's too much...I can't allow such complete and utter drivel to stand unchallenged...I must have scored a good point though, because mine was the only comment in that thread that he didn't respond to!

I spoke up about engaging a possible troll just in case he/she wasn't a troll and was just a conservative. But there is no question about his latest thread being anything but bait for trolling and, as such, responding is the most useless thing any of us could do.

Haha I think that's the problem. The stupider the shit a troll posts, the more I am inclined to respond. I'm exactly the type of sap that a troll is hoping for.

If it keeps him contained in his own personal pig sty then it is useful. He's not busy trying to debase the topics of others if he's gleefully wallowing in his own stupid.
I recall that in his final days Hugh was mostly limited to trolling in topics that he'd created just to get his fix.
Seeing him thread-jack his own topic is epic!
Let's not feed him on this thread though.
Why do such a thing? It serves to expose yourself as being strictly partisan or hypocritical. Everyone here claims to be of such high character but immediately and nonstop go after conservatives viciously and relentlessly The media seems extremely biased and in the bag when it comes to Hillary and many here do the same thing. There have been only a handful of people that have dared to call out Hillary and her misdeeds only to be berated and shunned from the community....Old school Liberals that used to stand up to this kind of stuff ought to be ashamed of what is taking place in the "new Progressive" BS coming bout of the Democratic party these days!!

I think it might involve shock therapy but they stopped doing leucotomy a few months back.

no, you count to ten and think about puppies...then remember that cartoon people post about having to respond to something b/c someone said something wrong on the internets.
think about what a jackaloon this guy is and how he/she would most likely never (ever never ever) act this way to your face.
then go back to puppies.
by then, you will have hopefully lost the impulse to find justice by correcting idiocy (especially for someone who posts to disrupt and annoy)

Just remember two things. The 1st is that the republicans have not won the popular vote but once since 1988. The 2nd is that they will likely never win it again!
That leads to serious political frustration, which is worse that sexual frustration really, you go through life masturbating to the idea that you and your ideas are so much better than everyone else, but yet nothing ever comes of it. The lack of ever getting that satisfaction leads one into trolldom or just irrational thought diatribes about how corrupt everyone else is and the how the media is complicit and biased against the only real mericans.
So you have to get this picture in your mind of this poor helpless soul sitting in the dark behind his keyboard frantically trying to get some satisfaction that will never come his or her way.
It all just gives me a good laugh really...
You could put a rubber band on your wrist and snap it when you feel the impulse to feed the troll. /snark

I see a lot of posts that follow the same pattern. They are short (thus take little effort), they either change the subject or assert easily refutable "facts," and they end with a request for a response.
It's hard to shake the thought that the poster is "scoring" (either emotionally or financially) based on number of posts and responses, with little thought for serious content.
The trap, of course, is that the posts are so easy to refute that they beg for a response, which then brings a similar short but empty reply. I'm not sure a rubber band will do. I may need an AI keyboard that administers escalating shocks under appropriate circumstances.
